Gears of War 2 will be released on November 7, 2008 for the XBOX 360. Without a doubt this game has been one of the most talked about, and sure to be one of the most popular games, of this holiday season. Not since the original Gears of War was released has a game had this much anticipation for release. The controls of this game are some of the best in any shooter game which is fantastic as the action is very frenetic at time.
For those possible new fans of Gears of War, it is a third person shooter created by Epic Games for Microsoft Studios. It is an exclusive Microsoft title and can only be played on XBOX 360. The first Gears of War was also released for the Windows operating system. The guts of the game relies on a modified Unreal 3 engine to power the action and graphics.
The game continues with the player as Marcus Felix as leader of COG Delta squad. Their goal is simply to stop the Locust Horde from destrying humanity and taking over the world. Gears of War 2 will allow the player to use those familiar weapons, and a few new ones, to continue on the goal of destroying the Lucust Horde before they wipe out humanity. One of the most popular weapons in the arsenal of the game has to be the chainsaw mounted on a machine gun for shooting or sawing your opponents. One of the new features of Gears of War 2 is the ability to use a downed opponent as a shield as you continue to shoot. Those that have seen previews of the game have enjoyed this new tactic available to the player. Killing the Locust Horde or your opponent has never been more thrilling.
The multi-player games will be what really keeps the interest high in the game after the single player game is complete. There have been a reported 15 new maps available for multi-playr action, which should help keep interest in the game until well into 2009. There are numerous games within the multi-player option that will keep players occupied. Reports indicate that at least three new on-line multi-player modes, called "Guardian," "Wingman," and "Submission" will be available. The player will also have the option for Co-op play with a friends or friends.
Gears of War2 is a game that a lot of fans of the original will be looking forward to. The violence and action level has been raised. The gameplay is easily as good as the first, if not improved. One of this holiday season's most aniticipated game for XBOX 360 is Gears of War 2. For those that enjoy Gears of War action figures or Gears of War toys, new versions of those will also be released during the launch.
